Accessibility Statement

The Boating Station is in Forester Road roughly 20 minutes’ walk from the centre of town.

We take every care to provide the best access we can for the widest range of visitors within the constraints of our location. We pay particular attention to health and safety, including the provision clear signage in the relevant places.

We have a car park, this can be busy on weekends & it’s not possible to book a space. We suggest it is best to walk to us if you are coming on a weekday afternoon. The Boating Station is in a Residents parking zone, one street parking is only allowed on Sundays.

From the car park there is a steep path to the boat hire office.

There is a Taxi rank at the Abby in town.

There are busses, please check with the bus company for times.

There are two steps on to the landing stage where you shall be put in your boat by a member of staff. The step into the boat varies depending on the height of the river. We have two heights of landing stage & will use the most appropriate one for the hirer.

Hirers must be able to get in & out their boat with minimal aid. We can supply storage for mobility aids upon request. We have no special provision for other access needs.

There are seats on the lawns by the river.

There is one step up to the serving hatch of the office.

The ground is either, grass, tarmac or concrete.

Toilets available, no disabled toilet.

Assistance dogs are welcome and water is available for them on request.
